Dear friends,
Welcome to Week 2 of our General Assembly newsletter! During session we have to evaluate hundreds of bills that touch on a wide array of issues impacting our state. The process of reviewing and shaping these bills happens largely through committee work. Committees are where the bulk of the discussions take place—members carefully read and analyze proposed bills, hear testimony from both supporters and opponents, and engage in meaningful dialogue to weigh the potential impacts. After consideration, committees then vote on whether a bill should move forward to the full legislature for further debate. It’s a critical part of the legislative process, helping ensure that every bill gets the attention it deserves.
