Dear Friends,
I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful spring weather! Our legislative session finished up in March, just in time for me to be back to enjoy spring in Newport News. The legislature briefly returned to Richmond in early April for the Reconvene Session, often called the “veto session.” I’m pleased to share that most of my bills survived the Governor’s veto pen, except the healthcare data bill (HB 1827), the teacher leave bill (HB 1830) and surprisingly, our Blue Catfish invasive species bill (HB 2782) which passed both chambers with strong bi-partisan support!
